The low-cost housing first storey development at 318 High Street, Maitland was unopposed and widely congratulated as a means of rejuvenating the Heritage Mall area.
The three-lot subdivision and staged development of three medium density dwellings at Close Street, Morpeth was also approved despite objections from neighbouring residents.
Concerned resident Andrew Cockbain raised traffic, amenity and noise issues during public access but was unsuccessful in dissuading council.
Cr Steve Procter said all objections had been adequately addressed.
“I had some concerns but visiting the site and speaking with the planner, it has been redone, it’s significantly better than before,” he said.
