Grossmann High School celebrates milestone

06 Jul, 2009 09:41 AM
School memories and old friends filled the function room at Monte Pio on Friday night when Maitland Grossmann High School celebrated its 125th anniversary.

One hundred guests attended the event, including ex-students and ex-staff members, and the evening was an opportunity to remember, reflect and celebrate.

Maitland Mayor Peter Blackmore was among the dignitaries who acknowledged the school’s milestone and event organiser Lee Osborne said the celebration was memorable.

“It was an evening of laughter and reminiscing, and it was lovely to share memories of our times at the school and celebrate the fact that it’s a great achievement to have a school that is 125 years old,” Mrs Osborne said.

“The school is steeped in tradition and its history has been passed onto the generations of students who have attended, and we will continue to pass these values onto the students.”

Mrs Osborne said organising the event was a team effort and she appreciated the assistance of everyone involved.

The school will hold an open day on September 12 where the public can go on a tour of the school and celebrate its history.
