She transforms her shiny black locks into barrel curls every day, paints her lips with crimson stain and mostly listens to Elvis.
And yesterday she felt very much at home.
Ms Delaforce, 18, joined about 35,000 people at the Coalfields on the weekend for the ninth annual Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival – an event designed to celebrate all things retro.
“I originally come from Port Macquarie where I stick out like a sore thumb, so this is great,” Ms Delaforce said. “This is my first Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival and it’s amazing.”
“I think I was born in the wrong era so this is a wonderful experience for me.”
Ms Delaforce, now living in New Lambton, grew up listening to the music of the ’50s and ’60s and as soon as she was old enough began dressing in the style of the rock ‘n’ roll era.
“I love everything about it – the fashion, the music, in fact, I don’t
listen to modern music at all,” she said.
“I dress like this every day.”
Features of this year’s festival included the Vegas wedding ceremony, dance competitions and a famous fifties showcase.
