Severe storm warning

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the Hunter and mid-north coast.

The warning currently extends to the mid-north coast, parts of the northern rivers, Hunter, central tablelands, north-west slopes and plains, central-west slopes and plains, upper-western and northern tablelands forecast districts.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted large hail stones and damaging winds in the coming hours.

The State Emergency Service has reminded people to move cars undercover and away from trees.

Electrical appliances should be unplugged and loose household items should be secured.

People are reminded to stay indoors and away from windows.
