Work set to begin on road upgrade

16 Feb, 2009 07:35 AM
Work on a $1 million upgrade to Raymond Terrace Road at Millers Forest is under way, with an aim to improve safety and driving conditions.

The State Government-funded project includes widening the existing 550m section of Raymond Terrace Road from the Woodberry Road roundabout east towards Raymond Terrace.

The reconstruction will also provide two 3.5m wide travel lanes and 2m wide sealed shoulders.

“This project is part of the Rees Labor Government’s overall upgrade of roads across the Hunter region, designed to increase road safety and ease congestion,” Maitland MP Frank Terenzini said.

“Work is expected to

be completed mid-year, subject to weather.”

The existing water main will be relocated during the works.

Mr Terenzini said most of work would be carried out during the day, with some night work to reduce the impact on motorists.
