The hometown heroes came up with the goods at the final round of the NSW MX Championships at Cessnock on Saturday.
Tocal’s Jason Reed was the fastest rider on the day, winning the junior 125cc 14-15-years State titles.
Young Hinton rider Tyler Gear took out the series in the junior 65cc 11-to-under-13-years race.
More than 300 junior riders ripped up the Cessnock track during the day of racing.
Reed, who is a cousin of two-time world supercross champion Chad Reed, had a fitting conclusion to what has been a stellar season on the bike.
“I won every single moto in the State title,” he said.
“Three wins at Clarence, three wins at Port (Macquarie), three wins at Cessnock on my home track.
“I couldn’t be happier. It’s an awesome feeling to be on that podium once again.”
Reed said winning on the track he grew up on was a “real thrill”.
“This is the track mum and dad used to chase up around on and tell me to ‘stand up and change gears’ and to come away with two race wins, three hole shots, I couldn’t ask for more,” he said.
Reed’s team-mate Sam Duncanson from the Gold Coast was also victorious with the win in the junior 13-to-under-15-years 125cc.
Event organiser Phil Sargent was impressed with the day’s racing.
“It was great to see so many juniors and their parents support the championship in its first year,” he said.
“I was really proud to see the level of the juniors in our State and can’t wait for next year.”
Yesterday Reed had a shot at a second title in the junior 250cc 15-years competition where he was leading the class by 33 points over Jake Ridley.
