There will be no time for lying around this weekend.
Josh Bunt, 16, will be one of a host of riders from the Maitland region revving their engines at the starting gate and eyeing off the first corner of the Allen Park track at Somersby.
Beyond the first corner, if riders stay on board, waits four laps of pedal to the metal, speeds over 100kph and a finish line.
At the completion of the weekend – following a series of practice laps, qualifiers and finals – awaits the ultimate prize. A national title at the the 2009 Australian Longtrack Junior Championships.
“My aim is to win it,” Bunt said.
And the ambitious teenager from Brandy Hill has a simple solution to bring home the ultimate reward from the Central Coast Junior Motorcycle Club. Bunt will compete in the 100-150cc 13 to under 16 years and the 200-250cc 13 to under 16 years divisions.
The Year 10 student at All Saints College, St Peter’s Campus, Maitland, will be hoping to finish first in both of his classes and to repeat the lessons he has learnt from previous experience.
