The Maitland Triathlon Club (MTC) will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sunday with a unique handicap race at Maitland Park.
All competitors will start at different times, based on their average times from club races this season, and hopefully, if everything goes according to plan, finish at exactly the same moment.
“We will have the handicap race going with the fastest guys going off last and the field will be spread out over 31 minutes,” MTC publicity officer Matt Hubbard said.
“The idea is that everyone will be over the line at the same time.”
Hubbard said it was something a bit different for the club and he expects more than 100 competitors, both old and new, for Sunday’s races.
“Then after it is all done we will probably have a couple of drinks and celebrate a successful 10 years and catch up with those we have not seen for a while,” Hubbard said.
Registrations will be taken from 6.15am on Sunday with junior races to begin at 7am and the handicap event to conclude around 9.30am.
