Juniors try new set of skills at park

18 Feb, 2010 07:39 AM
Junior athletes were turned into triathletes on Sunday with more than 21 new faces taking part in the Maitland Triathlon Club (MTC) Triskills Day.

The triathlon debutants mixed with 13 existing club members for the second skills session for the season. A level two triathlon and swimming coach offered the young

triathletes plenty of helpful advice for the multi-skill sport.

MTC junior development officer Kevin Grant said he was pleased with the turnout and was hoping the juniors could put their new swim, bike, run and transition skills to good use.

“It was good to see children attracted to the sport and leading a healthy lifestyle,” Grant said.

“The club looks forward to encouraging its juniors to apply these skills at the next club race on February 28.”

This will be the same day the club will hold its annual handicap race for senior competitors.
