For Kate Burls and the team from Farrow Wyatt the Maitland River Run ticks all the right boxes.
Employees from the Church Street financial business – including Burls, Katie Coombs, Alison O’Toole, Ros Mitchell, Tim Bull, Nicole Day and Sharna McTiernan – will take part in the May 27 event along the banks of the Hunter River.
But apart from the fitness, the fun run also doubles as a fund-raiser for the Maitland Hospital Foundation, of which Farrow Wyatt partner Greg Farrow is chairman.
“It fits in perfectly for us,” Burls, marketing manager at Farrow Wyatt, said.
“The event supports fitness, raises money for the hospital and involves local business and local people. It is the whole package.”
The Maitland River Run and the Maitland Hospital Foundation are now in their third year of existence.
With the help of events such
as the Maitland River Run the foundation has raised up to $300,000 for resources such as incubators, nursing chairs and bladder scanners.
Farrow will compete in the 12 kilometre run while shorter four and eight kilometre options are also available.
The feature of the day will once again be the Maitland Mile, which is a race through the mall with $1000 of prizemoney up for grabs.
Racing starts from 9.30am next Sunday.
