Melody goes from Kurri to Nashville

Melody Pool is ready to hit the country music capital of the world, Nashville, Tennessee, to record her first album.

Pool will record with Jace Everett, who sings the theme song for popular television series True Blood.

The 21-year-old Kurri Kurri woman will travel to Nashville in September to work with Everett, who lives there and will produce the album.

Pool writes her own songs and plays guitar and was inspired to create an album after launching an EP last year.

“I wrote a bunch of songs just after I just finished my EP, which made me want to record again, straight away,” she said.

The folk/country performer has been singing and playing the guitar for more than a decade and started writing lyrics at age 16.

“Music is my life and what I’ve lived forever. It’s what I’ve grown up with,” she said.

“I don’t think I could survive doing anything else.”

Pool will perform at the Grand Junction Hotel in Maitland on Thursday at 8.30pm. Her EP, Awake, You’re All Around Me, will be on sale at the venue and online at www.melodypool.bandcamp.com
