Western Australia have set up an undefeated showdown with Queensland following an impressive showing against Tasmania at Maitland Park.
The team from the west won most of their matches against Tasmania on Thursday after accounting for NSW some 24 hours earlier in the 2013 Australian Golf Croquet Interstate Shield.
Western Australia, featuring freshly crowned national men’s champion Chris McWhirter and women’s runner-up Fleur Brockway, now face off against Queensland on Friday.
On the first two days of competition Queensland have beaten South Australia and NSW while Victoria are also shooting for three straight victories after triumphs against Tasmania and South Australia.
Victoria tackles NSW on Friday.
NSW pair Pam Gentle and Trevor Black will have the chance to play the national tournament on their home lawns at Maitland on Saturday when they host South Australia.
NSW wrap up their campaign against Tasmania on Sunday.
Victoria’s crucial match against Western Australia on Saturday will be followed by a game against Queensland on the final day.
