Candidates for the seat of Hunter are David Atwell (the Greens), Michael Johnsen (The Nationals), Ann Lawler (Citizens Electoral Council), Bill Fox (One Nation), Jennifer Stefanac (Palmer United Party), Hunter MP Joel Fitzgibbon (Labor) and Richard Stretton (Christian Democrats).
Paterson candidates are Anna Balfour (Christian Democrats), Jayson Packett (Palmer United Party), Peter Davis (Citizens Electoral Council), Bob Holz (Rise Up Australia Party), John Brown (the Greens), Bay Marshall (Labor) and Paterson MP Bob Baldwin (Liberal Party).
In the seat of Newcastle the choices are Michael Chehoff (Australia First), Zane Alcorn (Socialist Alliance), Yegon McLellan (Palmer United Party), Rod Holding (Independent), Susanna Scurry (Independent), Milton Caine (Christian Democrats), Jaimie Abbott (Liberal Party), Lawrence Higgins (Australian Independents), Sharon Claydon (Labor), and Michael Osborne (the Greens).
The latest polls predict a Coalition victory but Labor has not given up.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will keep campaigning until the last vote is cast at 6pm tonight.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott will do the same and has labelled this election the most significant in years.
Hunter MP Joel Fitzgibbon and Paterson MP Bob Baldwin and are hopeful they will continue to represent their electorates.
