Maitland Region Society of Artists Inc will officially open its Members’ Annual Art Exhibition 2012 on Friday night and everyone is invited.
About 170 entrants will vie for $4000 prizemoney, which has been sponsored by individuals and businesses.
The society, the only one of its kind in Maitland, is run by members and was formed in 1998.
“We have about 80 members and they come from all over the place – and we’re always looking for more members,” president Kay Sparkes said.
“Many award-winning artists will be exhibiting this year and there will be paintings in every medium, as well as sculptures.”
“Opening night is always fantastic and, of course, there will be wine and finger food and the winners in all the categories are announced,” Ms Sparkes said.
The exhibition will be held at the Masonic Hall, Grant Street, Maitland. The official opening is from 6pm to 8pm with refreshments and drinks provided.
