Mr Hughes has been invited to speak at the Million Dollar Round Table, the premier association of financial professionals, in Canada next year.
The mindset coach for professionals will travel to Toronto, Ontario in June for the event and has already begun preparations.
“It’s not until the middle of next year but I’ve already had to give them a script,” he said.
“I’ll be doing a talk called Walk of the Matador, which will be about how they as financial planners manage their reaction to the world and what’s going on around them in their interactions with clients.”
Mr Hughes relocated his business, Andrew Hughes Training and Coaching, from Newcastle to East Maitland last year and the father of four is already looking forward to the trip.
“About 7000 people go to these conferences and I’ll be speaking at a focus group,” he said.
“As far as speaking engagements go this is the one you want to get booked for, this is where the high-powered, keynote speakers are.
“I’ll be able to call myself an international speaker too after this, which will be very nice.
“It’s a huge compliment to be asked, just to be nominated for it and get past the first hurdle was amazing and I’m very excited about it.”
Mr Hughes spent 20 years in Canberra as a lawyer before relocating with his wife and children to Nabiac.
The family has since moved to Wallalong as Mr Hughes changed his career path.
“As a lawyer I used to appear in court, I was a solicitor but didn’t like court work,” he said.
“I always had a bit of a gift of the gab and realised that I was naturally gifted at leadership.
“In the broader sense I’m
someone who works with organisations to achieve and reach their potential.”
