Until January 29, enjoy some holiday fun at Hunter Valley Zoo, in 138 Lomas Lane, Nulkaba.
Hunter Valley Zoo has loads of things for kids to do this holiday, with daily shows of wombat feeding, a talk on the maned wolf, monkey feeding, koala and kangaroo joey patting, alligator feeding and reptile patting.
There is a free barbecue area and the zoo is open from 9am to 4pm daily.
Costs are: $19 for adults, $17 concession, $11 for a child aged from three to 15, a family pass for $55 and children under three are free.

Christmas lights
Hunter Valley Gardens is hosting the Christmas Lights Spectacular, Australia’s biggest lights display, until January 26.
Here is an exciting display of over a million lights, plus festive food, beverages, entertainment for children and Santa Claus.
Hunter Valley Gardens is in 2090 Broke Road, Pokolbin and the displays begin at 6.30pm and end at 10pm.
Costs are: $22.50 for adults (over 15 years), $17.50 for children aged from four to 15 and children under three are free.

Nativity exhibition
Until December 31, visit the Christmas Nativity Exhibition at Morpeth Gallery in Green Street.
The gallery is open from 9am to 5pm, Thursday to Sunday and nativities made from all materials are for sale.

Wine tasting at Wyndham
Wine and Christmas come together and for a limited time only, Wyndham Estate is offering a specially designed tasting which includes a selection of favourite festive wines.
Wyndham Estate at 700 Dalwood Estate, Dalwood, is open from 2pm on Saturday and Sunday and the cost is $15 per person.
Attendees will be offered specials on the featured wines, but booking is essential because places are limited.

Lots to see at art gallery
On show at Maitland Regional Art Gallery until February 9 next year are masterpieces from the Peter Elliott Collection.
Maitland Regional Art Gallery is in 230 High Street and the free exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm.
The exhibition features major works by Brett Whiteley, Norman Lindsay, William Dobel, John Olsen, Jeffrey Smart, Lloyd Rees and Charles Blackman.

Life Ball Maitland meets every Wednesday, from 10am, at Maitland Indoor Sports Centre, Shipley Drive, Rutherford.
Life Ball is suitable for people with diabetes, arthritis, cardiovascular problems and other chronic illnesses.
