With the dawn of a new school year on the horizon, the Anglican Parish of Telarah-Rutherford yesterday gathered at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Telarah, to celebrate its annual Blessing of the Backpacks.
“This part of the service is all about new beginnings and giving the children a good start,” church priest Mother Moira Evers said.
“And, as Christians, we ask God’s blessing for the year and I think that’s important for us as a Christian community.”
North Rothbury brothers Joshua and Ian See, aged nine and six respectively, took part in the service.
“I think this is a great start to the school year and it’s important that the kids feel an important part of the church as well,” the boys’ mother, Angela See, said.
