I understand Paterson Progress Association is having “constructive” negations with Daracon in regard to the reduction of the environmental effects and road damage that will be caused by the quadrupling of the truck traffic to and from the Martins Creek Quarry.

This however does not address the main issue which is to reduce the number of trucks travelling through built-up residential areas.
Daracon can address this issue by using the existing rail facilities at Martins Creek Quarry and transport the materials by rail to a central depot, which is better serviced by main regional roads that are designed for heavy vehicle traffic.
The current rail development site at Hexham, which Daracon is currently suppling with thousands of tons stone ballast, would be an ideal location for a such depot.
It is hoped that the Paterson Progress Association is also making it known to Daracon that their neighbours in Bolwarra Heights, Bolwarra and Lorn are also deeply concerned about the extra heavy truck traffic and the resulting environmental effects on their amenity, and not least the possible effects on house values.
