Hundreds of people gathered in Lorn on the weekend for the launch event of the Christie Lyn Foundation.
On March 27, Christie Jones, of Woodville, died following a six-month battle with an aggressive form of lymphoma.
Christie was only 34 and leaves behind husband Tim and three small children Nash, 6, Georgia, 3, and Will, 1.
“We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the support from this community,” Christie’s sister Melissa Rowe said.
“People have been phenomenal and their generosity has been astounding. If Christie was here she would have been blown away.”
Mrs Jones’ family and friends established the foundation before her illness was declared terminal.
The objectives, at the time, were to help pay for medication, make modifications to the family home and help provide financial stability for her husband and the children if Mrs Jones died.
“We’d just like to thank everyone, from the bottom of our hearts, for being so very generous,” Mrs Rowe said. “This is more than we could have hoped for.”
The Christie Lyn Foundation is hosting a Cuppa for Christie on May 31 at the Novotel on Newcastle Beach at 1pm. For more information email Amy Paton at amypaton@gmail.com or visit www.facebook.com/christielynfoundation
