But this year he will have to do it without one of his most important factors – his driver and daughter, Emily.
Emily won in Mr Foote’s stainless steel billycart Spirit in 2012, then successfully defended that title last year.
But with Emily unavailable to drive their new cart Ring In, Mr Foote has decided to keep driving duties in the family.
“My nephew and my brother will be driving it this year,” he said. “My carts have won it the last two years, so hopefully we can make it three.”
Gresford Billy Cart Derby and Easter Fair committee chairman Ken Chandler said the day was more than billycarts weaving down Gresford’s main street.
“It’s just a great family day out and the perfect way to spend part of the Easter long weekend,” he said.
“The billycart derby and the fair delivers a true old-fashioned family experience with lots to do for all the family.”
The 2014 Gresford Billy Cart Derby will be held on Easter Saturday, April 19, starting at 8.30am at Park Street, East Gresford.
