Worshippers met at St Peter’s Anglican Church, East Maitland, on Thursday night, Friday morning and afternoon, Saturday night and yesterday morning for the services.
“We always look forward to welcoming hundreds of people during the great days of Holy Week, as people come to be part of the traditional Easter liturgies,” St Peter’s parish priest Canon David Battrick said. “Our Easter celebrations remind us that whatever is going on in our lives, the church teaches that God will have the final word.
“And it will be word of hope, a word of new life.”
Father Battrick said Good Friday worshippers came to venerate the cross marking Jesus’ death and returned on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the resurrection.
“Easter is a time of hope and joy. It is a great opportunity to come and enjoy being part of something special in our beautiful church building.”
