Sera, a 15-time national champion heading into the weekend, added titles 16 and 17 to his collection after he took out the Clubman Heavy and X30 Light classes on Sunday.
Maitland drivers Ryley Brunner, Hayden Jackson and Sam Tooth put in solid performances but did not make the finals of their respective classes.
Brunner, the 14-year-old Rutherford Technology High School student, competed in his first national titles in the Junior Clubman class while Tooth and Jackon entered in the X30 Heavy class.
Sera passed the 15 national titles won by John Pizarro in the 1970s and ’80s with his wins and said he was pleased with the way he drove.
“I went into this weekend with a bit of confidence after a strong showing at the Victorian Championships but to come away with two victories is just amazing,” he said.
“I probably put more pressure on myself last year when I was trying to draw level with John Pizarro, this weekend there was a little bit but not as much as there was when I was trying to equal him.”
Sera said he would enjoy the win but would quickly cast his eye to events on the horizon.
“I’m very thrilled with today’s wins but the nature of our sport these days is that I won’t have long to celebrate as the focus will turn to the next round of the CIK Stars of Karting Championship and aim for the next win,” he said.
“It’s a special feeling to win my 16th and 17th titles but winning them in a kart that has my name on it makes it even more special.”
