In playing his matchplay game against “yours truly” he played the last six holes in four-under par, a cyclonic performance for this golfer to compete against.
This also included two nearest the pins on the second nine. It was a truly remarkable display of golf to finish off his opponent who hung in there until the 17th hole.
Troy Felan continued his recent good form finishing runner up on a countback with another local low marker Tony Lamb finishing third with 38 points.
Guy Cornwell had the round of his life to win B-grade with a superb 44 points, blowing the filed away with runner up Steve Ross seven points back with Mick Armstrong third with 36.
Mick Lutovac’s 36 points was good enough to win C-grade, with Noel Hughes second with 35 points and John Cutler third with 34.
Players needed 31 points to figure in the ball competition.
The Branxton Junior Open was played last Monday and Tuesday with the AJ Crooks Memorial Trophy won by Isaiah Melia from Charlestown with a scratch score of 143 over the two days.
Some notable performances from our local golfers included Zac Sweep winning the 36-hole net score over the field with 136, Harry Skinner winning the net competition for the boys 16/17/18 yrs and Corey Lamb winning the 36-hole scratch score for the under 13s and 12s.
Brandt Job won the under 12s and 13s net score on Tuesday with a 63 and Josh Tracey won the 16/17s/18s scratch score with his 144, only one shot from winning the overall trophy.
