Shane Tritton’s Afterburn enters the race in decent form having won two of its last five races.
The five-year-old Kiwi gelding is the only representative in the cup from Tritton’s Keinbah stables.
Seaham trainer Jennifer Sellers’ runner Rollon Gidget also comes into the meet after a last start win, with Ellalong trainer-driver Michael Formosa on board his charge Ultimate Trump.
East Maitland’s Robin Hosking also has Major Frank entered and is in good form with four placings from its last five starts.
Another East Maitland trainer, Brian Elder, also has a chance with Charli Dollar.
Racing starts at 6.30pm.
At Menangle on Saturday afternoon, the $322,000 Australian Pacing Gold final is the feature event of a 10-race program.
Tritton has Suave Stuey Lombo and Ardghal entered in the $100,000 group one Len Smith Mile in race nine.
The Keinbah trainer also has a pair of runners in the $50,000 group two event in race five, with Im Supersonic looking for its fifth win on the trot.
