The NSW State Emergency Service responded to 72 jobs across the Hunter, but just two in Maitland to patch leaking roofs.
“The majority of the jobs were related to flash flooding and homes being threatened by rainfall,” SES deputy regional controller Ken Speer.
“And there were the usual leaking roofs.”
The storm hit Muswellbrook about 6.30am and Cooranbong about 9am bringing down trees.
There were 48 jobs alone in the Lake Macquarie area.
The Bureau of Meteorology expected unstable conditions to persist all day with the possibility of further storms.
