Hills Solicitors will again feature in the A-grade netball grand final after scoring a convincing 45-34 win over Hano’s HVE in the major semi-final on Saturday.
The minor premiers were too good for Hano’s HVE, jumping out to an early lead before going on with the job in the second half to claim the 11 goal win.
Hills Solicitors captain Mel Morris was thrilled to have the chance to claim the big one in a fortnights time.
“It was a brilliant game, a very clean game as well which made it a lot nicer,” Morris said.
“The first quarter we were up by about nine or 10, we went out guns a blazing and built a big lead.
“They edged it back and got closer but the second half we took it away from them again.”
Morris was pleased with the whole team effort that led to the victory.
“Across the court everyone was just very hungry for the ball,” Morris said.
“We were chasing balls down and defensively the turn overs we got won us the game.”
Hills Solicitors now have the week off to freshen up for the decider as they away the winner of next weeks final between Hano’s HVE and HVE Transport.
But Morris isn’t taking anything for granted.
“Sometimes it doesn’t work having the week off,” Morris said.
“Yesterday we had a few that were crook with a bit of a cold or flu so it will probably be good for them to freshen up a bit.
“We don’t really have a preference who we play, we know both of them are going to be a hard game.
“We’ve played them both when they’ve been at full strength so we’ll be ready for whoever we get.”
Morris singled out defenders Susan Stokes and Katie Lawrence as Hills Solicitors best.
The loss means Hano’s HVE will now take on HVE Transport in the final next Saturday, with the winner advancing to play Hills Solicitors in the grand final.
