The 16-point win at Leichhardt Oval was Queensland’s 16th consecutive victory over NSW.
Young played strongly in the opening quarter of the game but was injured shortly after half-time on Saturday.
The lock suffered a knock to the throat and did not return.
The Maitland Pickers were also well represented in the NSW City v NSW Country game on Sunday.
Emma’s sister-in-law and Australian representative Bec Young was the team manager, with husband and Picker’s mentor Mick Young taking the coaching role.
Maitland also had 12 players in the Country squad.
City won the game 18-10 but Bec Young said it was a great experience for the players.
“It was awesome, the girls went into camp on the Saturday and went and watched the NSW game,” she said.
“We had a training run and then went back up to the Central Coast and the girls were presented with their jerseys.
“It was a good reward for those girls who deserved to play at that level.”
Young said she hoped the game would have a positive affect on the players.
“Playing rep football encourages everyone each year,” she said.
“Mick and I tried to coach differently than to how we do at the Pickers just to give the girls a glimpse of the different expectations.”
The Maitland Pickers are back in action on Saturday when they host Doonside at the Maitland Sportsground.
