Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay released a new road safety guide in a letter to primary school principals across the state.
“Any incident involving one of our children deeply affects our school communities and the families that are part of them,” Mr Gay said. “The recent incidents during school zone hours highlight the need for all of us to commit to taking every step possible to reduce the risk to our children.”
The 2014 Road Safety Issues Around Schools provides parents reminders about how to get safely to and from school and complements our ground breaking SafetyTown program.
“Rolling out to schools from this term, SafetyTown is the first resource of its kind in the country and is a great tool for parents as well as teachers,” Mr Gay said.
He said parents can access the online activities on SafetyTown.com.au with their children and reinforce the messages learnt in the classroom.
