Luckily, the Morpeth Public School student doesn’t have to.
Earlier this month Tom travelled to Canberra where he represented Hunter at the PSSA State Hockey Championships.
The 11-year-old’s Hunter team made the final where they were beaten 4-2 by Polding.
It has been a big year for the talented sportsman who also represented the region at cricket on the Central Coast in March.
And Tom said his love of both sports means he doesn’t want to focus on one just yet.
“I really want to keep playing both,” he said.
“I don’t like either of them better, I like them both.”
Tom turns out for the Maitland Rams under 13s in the midweek hockey competition as well as Eastern Suburbs in Maitland junior cricket.
Morpeth Public School principal Peter Edmonds said the school was proud to have Tom representing them.
“He’s such a good kid, he’s our school captain and he comes from a strong sporting background,” he said. “He keeps a lot of his achievements quiet but we’re very proud of him.”
