The venue was once again the hockey but this time the Queen had passed on the baton to the younger generation of the British monarchy in Will, Kate and Harry.
And once again it was Jumpy, an inflatable kangaroo and crowd favourite of the Australian team, who stole the show.
Last time Jumpy simply minded the royal car while the Queen went about her business but this time he attracted a wave from Will and a smile from Harry.
The @JumpyOfficial page on Twitter now has 65 followers on Twitter while the proposed nation for which he is the official mascot, the union between Scotland and Australia, has a Twitter page called @Scotchralia.
While at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre the travelling party took part in an awareness campaign happening in the Hunter at the moment.
Ian Robertson, Silas Moss, Dave Robertson and myself all donned some knitwear up top to mark “Beanie For Brain Cancer” for the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Normal Scottish conditions would be
conducive to this selection of clothing but in the current climate, with days more like Hamilton in Newcastle not Hamilton in Glasgow, it was a little warmer than first anticipated.
They are calling it the pants-off celebration dance and I couldn’t have described it any better myself.
After claiming bronze in the men’s teams ping pong Nigerian player Onaolapo Ojo decided to show his elation by pulling down his shorts and revealing his blue undies while lifting up his shirt and shouting wildly.

England sprinter Sophie Papps ran in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m only four days after being brought into the team.
Nulkaba shooter Dan Repacholi has added a bronze medal to his Commonwealth Games collection.
Repacholi finished third in the 50 metre air pistol discipline just two days after claiming gold in the 10m event at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre.
Maitland’s Simon Orchard has opened his goal scoring account at Glasgow with a 46th minute strike against South Africa on Monday.
It was one of six goals scored by the Kookaburras after their 7-1 win against Wales in their first round match.
They take on India on Tuesday and hosts Scotland on Thursday before semi-finals start on Saturday and a potential final on Sunday.
