Maitland was well beaten at home by Penrith last weekend in a game that could have all but sealed the Mustangs' place in the Waratah Basketball League play-offs.
But the loss opens the door for Penrith, Bankstown, Newcastle and the Central Coast to pip them for a finals birth with wins in their final two games.
Davidson said his team needed to regroup after the disappointing performance.
“We’ve had a bit of a talk and everyone has refocused,” he said.
“The Sydney boys are coming up for training tonight (Thursday) so we need to refocus and put some stuff in place for the Central Coast game.”
Davidson said Maitland were flat against Penrith and would need to improve when they travel south to take on the Central Coast next weekend.
“I felt that we came out and weren’t competitive enough from the get-go,” he said.
“I felt Penrith were more focused and hungrier than us, which was disappointing.”
Maitland’s star recruit Goran Veg returned against Penrith and Davidson said he would be better for the run.
“You could tell he wasn’t match fit, he’s not quite back yet, but it was good for him to get some minutes out there,” he said.
“It’ll be good for him to get two more weeks of training under his belt, which in turn will benefit the team.”
