The critically acclaimed musical theatre performer will make an indefinite move to New York city in September for a crack at the big time.
“Ever since I decided to do musical theatre as a career, Broadway has been the pinnacle,” Harris said.
The award-winning lead actor will tour his new show Time is a Traveller this month before jetting off.
The show, that had an extended and sold-out season in Sydney, weaves together the songs and stories that led the son of a coal miner to perform in some of Australia’s biggest musicals.
“I’m really excited about performing the show in my own home town,” Harris said.
He is in the process of securing an agent ahead of his move to the US.
“It’s an unwritten chapter right now; that’s really exciting, each a new page gets written,” Harris said.
Having performed in numerous famous roles including Greg in the Boy From Oz, it is his goal to land an original role.
“What I would really love to do is originate a Broadway role,” Harris said. “Broadway is always producing new products.”
Time is a Traveller will at the Playhouse Theatre on August 16 with a 2pm matinee and a 7.30pm evening show.
