The 400 metre races round out the 10-event card with the Geoffrey Grimwood-trained Elusive Zesta having recorded the best time over the same distance at Maitland Showground.
Elusive Zesta (race 10, number five) has stopped the clock at 22.81 seconds previously while Dat’s A Kitty (race nine, number two) and Alexandrite (race eight, number five) have also gone sub-23 seconds before at Maitland.
The top two from each heat will progress to next week’s final with $540 on offer for each winner today.
In the opening heat Mighty Mo (race seven, number three) has been scratched.
Also out of action from the original program are Galaxia (race two, number seven), Regal Hero (race three, number seven) and Montoey (race four, number one).
The first half a dozen races are mainly 450m events with Kozmik Kaos (race five, number one) the best placed over the shorter distance coming off three straight wins.
Kozmik Kaos starts from the inside lane next to kennel mate Tarzan’s Grip with both trained by Raymond Lacava.
A 10-race meeting will also be held at Maitland tomorrow from 3.49pm.
