This Saturday signals the last round of the Maitland Netball Association A-grade competition and these three sides have missed the upcoming play-offs with the top four already settled.
RSL Cocktails have a tough task against title holders and second-placed Lantry Plumbing after recording a morale-boosting 43-37 win against Family Hotel last start to draw level with them on 26 competition points.
However, RSL Cocktails must claim victory at 1pm to finish any higher than sixth with Family Hotel in the box seat for fifth with guaranteed points from the bye.
Last-placed Tolsaf Cranes are still chasing their first win of the year and face the biggest challenge of round 14 up against competition front runners Hills Solicitors, who are in line to claim their fourth straight minor premiership.
The later game starts at 2.30pm.
And the A-grade match of the round has third-placed Hills Succession up against fourth-placed George Tavern with just one point separating them on the competition ladder.
The 1pm match will more than likely be the preview of next Saturday’s minor semi-final with a major semi-final battle between Hills Solicitors and Lantry Plumbing potentially looming on August 30.
The preliminary final is scheduled for September 6 and the grand final a week later on September 13.
In other netball news the Maitland association will combine their final round of matches with their annual “Crazy Hair and Sock Day” raising funds for Maitland Neighbourhood Centre.
