The rivals clash at Maitland Park on Saturday in the minor semi-final with the teams finishing third and fourth on the ladder respectively.
George Tavern (44 points) ended the year slightly above Hills Succession (42) following their 44-27 final round win on Saturday.
It was the second time George Tavern had got the better of Hills Succession this season after a narrow 42-41 victory halfway through the year on June 21.
Both sides were part of last year’s A-grade semi-finals but fell short of making the decider.
The winner of Saturday’s do-or-die encounter will progress to the preliminary final on September 13.
The major semi-final will be played between four-time defending minor premiers Hills Solicitors and title holders Lantry Plumbing next Saturday.
The grand final is scheduled for September 20.
