And now the friends of Lauren Koppers have ­rallied to raise much-needed funds as the former Bolwarra woman undertakes, yet again, the fight of her life.

Mrs Kopper, 28, needs $14,000 for the cancer-blocking chemotherapy drug known as pertuzumab that could offer her more time with husband Adam and twin baby boys.

“As mother to Charlie and Elijah it is easy to understand why Lauren is fighting for every minute she can,” Mrs Kopper’s friend and fund-raiser Erin Piatek said.

But at $3500 a dose – required every three weeks – pertuzumab has been rejected by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Ms Piatek has posted Mrs Kopper’s story on the crowdfunding website mycause.com to try to raise the money.

“This is yet another new drug that could help prolong Lauren’s life, but it has been rejected from the PBS, making it very difficult to access,” she said.

“She has now been given the opportunity to increase the time she has with her husband.

“Despite her poor prognosis, Lauren had continually inspired those around her with her optimistic spirit and determination through a very difficult time.”
