Emergency crews attended Aberglasslyn Road, near the intersection of Oakhampton Road, just before 1.30pm after reports of a crash.
Paramedics performed CPR on the man, but he died at the scene.
Friends and family members arrived at the crash site soon after and learned of the man’s death.
Police said the 26-year-old was riding north-bound when his motorbike crossed to the wrong side of the road and hit a tree at the road side.
The road was dry and the weather was clear at the time.
Officers are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash, which happened in a 60km/h speed zone.
Police closed the road while the debris was cleared and the crash investigation unit made its inquiries.
The crash is the second fatal incident in the region involving a motorist aged under 30 in less than a month.
The latest incident came after Weston man Matthew Neale, 19, died when his car hit a tree on Duffie Drive at Cessnock on August 6.
Four of the 29 deaths on the state’s roads last month were motorcycle riders, according to Transport NSW crash data.
There have been 36 fatal motorbike crashes state-wide this year, up to August 31.
This is seven fewer than the same period last year.
Eighty-three of the 334 people who have died on NSW roads this year have been aged between 17 and 29.
