In Australia, we have Clive Palmer accusing the Chinese of genocide and the Prime Minister calling for patriotism making use of his “unpolished” choice of words for a multicultural society such as Australia – be part of the team Australia or don’t bother coming.
To someone who has never immigrated, either legally or illegally, it might sound perfectly normal, but to others that for various reasons left their motherland, it’s like being asked to bury their past or even denounce the country they were born in.
Such a statement from a prime minister of a country whose inhabitants are so proud of their people abroad for calling Australia home and expect different from the people that migrate to Australia.
It sounds somewhat hypocritical.
