They were in the city for the Hunter finals of the NSW Combined High Schools Under-15 Knockout competition.
The last eight teams in both boys’ and girls’ divisions battled it out at the home of the Maitland Mustangs.
Swansea beat Merewether in the girls’ decider while Hunter Sports High made light work of Warners Bay in the boys’ showdown.
All four sides will now feature in the state top 20 with the next round of the annual tournament due to be played by October 10.
