The state government released a discussion paper last month that detailed how a long-term lease of the poles and wires would raise $20 billion for infrastructure.
“Rebuilding NSW is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure the long-term future of communities across NSW, including those in the Maitland area,” Ms Parker said.
“I want to hear from residents and stakeholders across the Maitland area on a wide range of issues, including how the government can help businesses and communities to better plan for the opportunities made available as a result of new infrastructure investment.”
Proceeds from the lease would be used for roads and rail networks, schools and hospitals, as well as water infrastructure.
Interested parties are invited to make an initial submission in response to the discussion paper by September 19.
Findings from the consultation process are expected to be released later this year.
