Mackay’s charges are spread across four Maitland Greyhound Club races, including two $1150 stakes events and a maiden, and despite all sharing the zipping name none are from the same litter.
Zipping Kendra and Zipping Oscar, the only non-bitch, kick start Mackay’s charge in the opening event of the card being a 450 metre maiden.
They have boxes four and six respectively.
Mackay continues in race four with number two Zipping Tarn contesting the 450m fifth grade race and hoping to improve on two recent thirds.
Forty minutes later Zipping Summah will jump from the same box in race six in pursuit of an $1150 first prize.
The final piece of the Mackay puzzle at the weekly Thursday meeting, Zipping Angel, will also wear the striped rug after winning two of her last three starts.
Maitland Greyhound Club sponsorship and promotions manager Fred Robertson said Zipping Angel (race eight, number two) was his best bet of the day.
Also on the card is a non-graded 450m final worth $3400 to the victor with Christine Oldfield’s Tappo Osteria (race seven, number one) starting from the inside lane after experiencing three wins and a second from four previous starts.
Ella Has Class and Essay Spok have been scratched from race seven with Moonstone Magic and Gevala the nominated reserves.
Race five presents an interesting 450m battle as well with number one Captain Jess, number five Devine Vegas and number seven Zipping Amelia set to be amongst the favourites.
The final two events on the card are of fifth grade standard over the 400m distance with the Brett Tooth-trained Wussell (race 10, number six) having stopped the clock at 22.58 seconds at Maitland on August 14.
Race two is a second maiden followed by a masters event for greyhounds older than three-and-a-half-years of age in the third.
Today’s first race at Maitland jumps at 4pm.
