The dinner will be held at the school on Saturday, September 27.
Replies have so far been received from 100 invited guests, but the school had hoped for 200 acceptances.
“This year’s 130th anniversary will be very special because it is being held in our school’s multi-purpose centre for the first time,” Maitland High School Old Boys and Ex-Students Union secretary Peter Newcombe said.
“While the replies have been well short of our expectations, we are still hoping more people will ring in soon,” Mr Newcombe said.
“Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of interest among young ex-students these days.
“Perhaps this is because there are so many other ways for people to keep in touch now.
“With Twitter, Facebook and email, reunions don’t have the feeling they once did.
“But all former students and their guests would be very welcome to attend the anniversary dinner, as well as former staff members.”
The school, formerly Maitland Boys’ High School, became a co-educational school in 1987.
“Of the 100 acceptances we have had so far, none have been from female ex-students,” Mr Newcombe said.
“Our female ex-students are still very under represented here.
“This school is still primarily a ‘boys’ organistion’ and we need to rectify this, which to a degree has been done.
“We had some female ex-students at our anniversary dinner last year and I don’t know why they are not coming forward now.
“Last year took we had a good turnout of 113 – a record for my time.”
