“The lower costs approved after action from Ward 4 councillor Jason Dunn still have to be passed by Newcastle City Council,” Mr Skinner, chairman of the Baracudas Swimming Club, said.
“So this Saturday and probably for some weeks after that, people will still be paying the $5 entry fee until council officially amends the fees to be cut to $2.80 per person,” Mr Skinner said.
“I fear this will cause a fair bit of confusion among swimmers on Saturday – and may be even some anger.
“Although this proposal to slash the fees, put by Cr Dunn, was accepted, it all has to be officially passed by Newcastle City Council.”
The amendment put by Cr Dunn was accepted last month.
While he said then that acceptance of his amendment was “a real win” for the community, the fight to save Beresfield pool from closure was still on.
“This coming swimming season will be the most important one ever for people to show they want their pool to remain open – by using it.”
