Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at nine months, Gina has faced more obstacles in her 18 years than most adults encounter in a lifetime.
And Alisha-jane has always been by her side.
"Gina has taught me that even though everything can be a challenge you have to keep looking forward," Alisha-jane, 22, said.
This month the young Bolwarra woman will aim to raise $1000 as part of the September initiative designed to raise much-needed funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
"My aim is to make 10,000 steps a day, that's what an average active person is supposed to achieve, but most office workers only makes around 3000 steps," Alisha-jane said.
"And I'll be sponsored for my efforts with all money going to the alliance for different equipment and physio for children and adults with cerebral palsy like Gina.
A child is born with cerebral palsy every 15 minutes in Australia. There are now more than 17 million people worldwide with cerebral palsy.
Four years ago Gina was confined to a wheelchair and this year she is learning to walk again.
"It's extremely important for me to do this as Gina's sister to help raise awareness within the community," Alisha-jane said.
