The creation of Ash Bell and Matt Bone, Starboard Cannons is fundamentally an acoustic duo.
Based in Byron Bay's forested hinterland, the pair craft string-based gems inhabited with bush characters and folklore.
Their debut album, Somebody's Opus, put them on the map back in 2012.
This year saw the release of their second album, The Valiant and the Brave, confirming their position at the forefront of modern Australiana.
In the live arena they combine drums, fiddle, banjo and mandolin with their own guitar and upright bass blend, transcending folk traditions.
Starboard Cannons also demonstrate the larrikinism that underpins Australiana.
The Valiant and The Brave is out now.
