The 130-year-old property, at 17 Steam Street, sold for $701,500 at an on-site auction on September 6.
LJ Hooker Maitland said four bidders registered for auction and 39 bids were made.
“This outstanding auction result signals confidence in the Maitland property market and shows that the market is rebounding from the downturn we experienced in the mining industry,” Todd Fisher, principal at LJ Hooker Maitland.
“The vendors opted to use auction to sell this property and that has essentially earned them $50,000 extra.
“This is a great tribute to the strength of auctions in the area and will hopefully give confidence to other vendors looking to sell their home.
“It is also great to see that overseas investors are seeing value in the Maitland market.”
The four-bedroom Victorian home, circa 1880, was refurbished by its previous owners.
The kitchen was designed and built by Glen Benton with honed marble benchtops and island bench, while modern conveniences including an integrated dishwasher and 900mm commercial gas cooker were also installed.
The grounds include manicured buffalo lawn and trimmed hedge borders, established gardens with a large in-ground pool, full sandstone capping and luxurious pool house with a kitchenette.
