The 10-round challenge began back in April and has been conducted at speedway venues in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
The penultimate round will be held at Kurri Kurri Speedway this Saturday with the final round of the challenge to be held on Sunday.
Tyson Nelson leads the Senior Challenge with 114 points with fellow Queenslander Jake Allen (82 points) and Jack Holder (Appin, NSW) on 81 points, his nearest rivals.
Cooper Riordan tops the standings in the junior challenge with 118 points with Hunter region riders Kane Lawrence (Marylands, Newcastle) on 98 points and Jimmy Jones (Greta) on 73 points his closest challengers.
The highlight of the winter challenge is the overall challenge grand champion and that is decided on the point standings in both the senior and junior divisions.
Riordan leads the Grand Champion Challenge with his 118 points but is only four points clear of Nelson.
Despite their handy leads in their respective divisions, neither Nelson nor Riordan can afford to “cruise” through this weekend.
They will need to score top points in both rounds to become the overall challenge grand champion.
Saturday and Sunday competitions will begin with the junior solo events at the earlier time of 10am with the senior solo events starting at 1pm.
