Duke, Angel and Archie and their Devil Ark carers will make a special appearance at Wollombi Markets this long weekend.
Devil Ark, in the Barrington Tops, is the largest and most successful breeding facility in Australia and home to nearly 200 healthy, disease-free devils.
Devil facial tumour disease (DFTD), a transmittable cancer, has made the conservation status of the Tasmanian devil endangered.
The disease has affected the wild population dramatically, with up to 90 per cent of devils eradicated in some areas of Tasmania.
DFTD shows no signs of slowing down and, with no vaccine or cure in sight, insurance breeding is recognised as the devil’s best chance of long-term survival.
Devil Ark devils will repopulate Tasmania once disease has run its destructive course.
The Wollombi Markets will have more than 100 stalls, including local produce and crafts, plants, clothes, tools, bric-a-brac and much more.
Devil Ark Advocates will also have a stall, selling Devil Ark merchandise and spreading the word about the Tasmanian devil project in the Barrington Tops.
