Nadine Peters, husband James, children Brody, 5, and Heather, 4, were among the many McKeachies Run families to vote via Facebook to watch the Disney movie Frozen for the opening of the Redgum Circuit sportsground.
Hundreds of families are expected to turn out for a night of free entertainment from 5pm on Saturday.
Stockland will host the event, which will include face painting and a jumping castle.
“There were three movies to vote for, but Heather and Brody love Frozen so that’s how we voted,” Mrs Peters said. “They love the music, the story and singing along. They are very exited to be part of the outdoor movie screening on Saturday night.”
Mrs Peters said McKeachies Run was ideal for families.
“It is a community and family-orientated place,” she said. “A lot of effort [from Stockland] goes into making sure we are a community and for neighbours to get to know one another.”
Residents have connected via the McKeachies Run community Facebook page launched six months ago and has attracted more than 1100 likes.
The event will be the first movie screening at the new sportsground which features two full-size football fields, an all-weather cricket pitch and six light towers.
