The school will host its second annual music competition, Amplified, on November 1.
The event will feature a number of primary and high school students, including solo artists and bands at Osterley.
Maitland High School band Youth Avenue took out the event last year after they smashed out a number of Australian-flavoured rock ‘n’ roll tunes in front of more than 500 people.
It was the year 10 students’ first gig outside their school.
Mt Kanwary P & C committee president Juliet Thomas said the school hoped Amplified would be as big a success in 2014 as it was last year.
“Hopefully it will be the same again this year, or even better,” she said. “We’re only a little school and last year there was such a great atmosphere.”
“Hopefully the community will come out and support us again.”
Mrs Thomas said the event was the small school’s major fund-raiser for the year and would involve a first prize of $500 for each of the winners of the primary and secondary students sections.
“We’ll have a big auction on the night as well as other things like rides, face painting, stalls and food,” she said.
“There is something for all the family. We’ve had some amazing auditions and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children or $10 for a family.
